I got a Mac Mini

Yes, I am a proud owner of a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini. I used to be a loyal Windows user but in the past year, I was exploring other alternatives. I tested many linux distributions. Red Hat, Gentoo and Ubuntu were not cutting it for me. They required numerous hours to contribute to set-up and required even more to maintain. I needed a simple, yet powerful system to work on. Why I Bought ItParticularly, I use my computer for Photoshop, coding, web development and lots of web surfing. I bought the higher model just in case I want to do some simple movie editing. The Mini comes with 1GB of DDR RAM and a 120GB of hard drive. I figured that it is perfect since I also have a WD 250GB external USB hard drive space which I can use for the Time Machine, a 21 inch Gateway HD display, a mouse and a Wave keyboard from Logitech and Altec Lansing 5.1 speakers. All of them simply hooked up to the Mini.LeopardMoving on, recently released Mac OS X Leopard, is the most advanced system that I have ever used.
It is simple but yet very powerful to satisfy my computing needs. Mac Mini came with Tiger installed but had Leopard on a DVD. The installation process asked me few questions and took about 1.5 hours to complete. The entire process ran without any issues and I was up and running in under 2 hours. I was amazed on how easy it was to set everything up – no need to find correct drivers, set up mouse and keyboard and not even adjust monitor resolution.WindowsAdmit it, there are days when you wish you had Windows just so you can run a small app. Fortunately, there is BootCamp and Parallels. BootCamp allows you to boot directly into Windows while Paralles can run Windows as an application within Leopard.OverallThe Mac Mini is great for someone who is interested in a Mac but does not want to make that plunge. Since it runs great with your existing hardware (monitor, mouse and keyboard), it is a no brainer to install and get up and running. In my eyes this thing is flawless. Now I am looking forwards to MacBook Pro!
